T Levels
T Levels are two-year qualifications that blend classroom learning with a substantial industry placement. Designed in collaboration with employers, they equip you with the technical knowledge and workplace skills needed to move directly into skilled employment, further study or apprenticeships.
You’ll usually study T Levels in a college or sixth form setting, choosing from subjects such as Digital, Health, Education, Science, or Construction. Each course combines classroom learning with a substantial industry placement of at least 45 days. If you want to gain technical knowledge while building real workplace experience, T Levels could be the right path for you.
Is This Path for Me?
T Levels are well suited to students who:
- Enjoy combining practical skills with academic study
- Want a clear route into a specific career area
- Like the idea of a long industry placement to build real experience
- Are motivated by learning that links directly to the workplace
My placement gave me confidence and helped me see how what I was learning in class applied in the real world.

What You’ll Learn

How You’ll Be Assessed
Assessment is a mix of exams, coursework, and practical projects, giving you the chance to demonstrate knowledge and skills in different ways.
Coursework
Assignments and employer-set projects form a key part of your assessment. These tasks help you apply your learning to real-world problems.
Exams
You’ll complete written exams to test your core knowledge and technical understanding. These cover the theory needed for your chosen industry.
Practical Assessments
Some subjects involve practical demonstrations of skills, showing how you can perform tasks in workplace scenarios.
Entry Requirements
Most schools and colleges will expect you to have:
- At least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above
- English and maths are usually required
- Some subjects may ask for specific GCSEs related to the T Level
T Levels are full-time, two-year programmes and cannot be combined with other qualifications.
