What is life like at Regent High School Sixth Form?
Our nurturing and progressive approach to education is underpinned by values of ambition, inspiration and opportunity. They steer our drive for academic excellence and a wider student experience, offering both support and prospects for every student to develop into independent, confident and resilient adults, prepared for the demands of society.
We are a nationally-recognised school, having won three awards since 2019, including a prestigious Silver Pearson National Teaching Award, being shortlisted for a TES Award for ‘Secondary School of the Year’ in 2022 and 2025, and winning a further Silver Pearson National Teaching Award for ‘Making a Difference: Secondary School of the Year’ in 2022.
At Regent High School Sixth Form, we offer a range of academic pathways tailored to your skill set and interests. To drive competitive applications you will have the opportunity to pursue a rigorous A Level programme where you can study three or four subjects alongside the Extended Project Qualification. We also offer a range of Level 3 vocational qualifications to demonstrate your ability both independently and through practical work.
Our track record of success has seen over 96% of students, who wish to do so, go on to university or undertake further training through apprenticeships or work-based placements. A large proportion of our students progress to Russell Group universities, including the London School of Economics, King’s College London, Warwick and Manchester Universities. Our students study a range of courses, including Medicine, Engineering, International Relations, and Architecture. We are partnered with Exeter University’s Realising Opportunity Programme and have the highest participation rate nationally.
Life at Regent High School Sixth Form is about more than academic qualifications. There are many enrichment and leadership opportunities available, allowing you to shape your experience and future. You will have the chance to engage in a range of extra-curricular activities, from sports and chess club to theatre technician training and student leadership responsibilities.
What extra activities and clubs can students do?
Students have a number of enrichment opportunities in the Sixth Form and are encouraged to participate in as many of them as possible. These include access to sports and health facilities including table tennis and basketball courts and the school fitness suite. Various clubs from Origami, Debate, Games, Sports and Chess Club are also taken up by our students.
As part of supporting students learning beyond the classroom our Expanded Curriculum (Ex) is built into the timetable for all Year 12&13 students. Wednesday afternoons allow for enhanced exposure to opportunities and experiences which will support students to compete for a place at a competitive university, internship or apprenticeships, whilst increasing cultural capital, or simply an opportunity to experience something new! The Ex curriculum includes a wide range of opportunities including lectures from experts and professionals, visits to universities and company insight days.
