LaSWAP Sixth Form Consortium

LaSWAP comprises four closely-located specialist campuses based in La Sainte Union, William Ellis, Acland Burghley and Parliament Hill schools (the initials of each being used to create LaSWAP’s unique name). This means LaSWAP can provide all of the personal touches of a small sixth form, as well as all the benefits of a large college campus.

What is life like at LaSWAP?

LaSWAP is ‘The Sixth Form of Choice’, a name proudly earned due to our varied curriculum. Our consortium model means we can offer nearly 40 A Levels, more than 10 Level 3 technical/vocational qualifications (including three T levels) and a three-year sixth form; our students can combine subjects and pathways in many creative ways. Our students have a large, varied campus experience across our four schools (and five sites including Talacre), but also benefit from a close-knit school atmosphere and support system.

Alongside academic excellence, LaSWAP provides extensive enrichment and extra-curricular offers with opportunities from basketball to ‘Dungeons and Dragons’, debate club to dance, and Future Leaders to Year 7 mentoring. Enrichment is a core part of our offer and opportunities are available to all students across the four schools, increasing opportunities to make friends and learn new skills.

We are also very proud of our careers and higher education guidance. We have an extensive pathways programme across Year 12 and 13, and students have access to individual support and guidance. Futures Day, featuring over 20 employers and HE institutions, and pathways trips to UCAS Discovery alongside many universities, provide the opportunity to visit campuses and taster days.

LaSWAP students wishing to apply for Oxbridge or medicine & adjacent courses also benefit from specialist support via our Early Entry programme and links with Imperial College, City St George’s, Girton and Hertford Colleges, and more.

LaSWAP students have secured work experience placements with Google, Spotify, the Francis Crick Institute, the British Library, Harrow CAMHS and BAE, to name just a few, and we have ongoing T level partnerships with creative employers such as Havas, Moonbug Entertainment and Locksmith Animation.

Comparisons to national statistics show that LaSWAP students applying to university are highly likely to secure places at their first-choice institution and we have very strong progression rates to Russell Group and other prestigious and competitive universities. We champion ambitious pathways for our full range of learners; this year students studying vocational subjects secured places on competitive courses at Manchester, QMUL and Edinburgh studying courses such as therapeutic radiography, biochemistry, accounting and finance, and educational psychology.

LaSWAP students are resilient, creative and academically skilled young adults with a keen awareness of community and equity. We are proud to offer an extensive curriculum and wider sixth form experience to support their future excellence.

How are students supported and included?

Support & Inclusion
At LaSWAP Sixth Form, support and inclusion are central to the experience. As a consortium of four schools, LaSWAP offers the scale and breadth of a college while keeping the close pastoral care of a school community.

Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
Students are supported from the very beginning with a clear induction programme and an ongoing tutorial system. Each student has a personal tutor, Head of Year and Director of Sixth Form, ensuring that someone always knows and champions them. Attendance and progress are carefully monitored, and where needed, additional support is offered through counselling and links to external services.

Academic and Progress Support
LaSWAP sets ambitious targets and tracks progress through regular tutor meetings. Specialist advice is provided for all post-18 pathways, from UCAS and apprenticeships to vocational routes. Students also benefit from tailored programmes for high achievers, including bespoke support for Oxford, Cambridge and medicine applications, as well as pathways platforms like Unifrog.

Inclusive Community and Enrichment
While every student has a home base at one of the four schools, they access teaching and resources across all sites. This creates a unique mix of independence and belonging. LaSWAP also ensures inclusion through its wide-ranging enrichment programme, from sports, debating and drama to volunteering, leadership and mentoring. Opportunities such as the Future Leaders programme, Google AI Connect, and university visits broaden horizons and raise aspirations.

In short, with strong pastoral care, personalised academic guidance and a rich culture of inclusion, LaSWAP helps every student to thrive. The combination of four schools working together gives students the chance to feel supported, challenged and inspired, while gaining the confidence and skills to succeed beyond Sixth Form.

What are the entry requirements?

Each pathway at LaSWAP has different entry requirements all of which can be found here: https://www.laswap.camden.sch.uk/Summary-of-Entry-requirements/

LaSWAP will admit students who are 16 or 17 years old on the 31st August of the year in which their LaSWAP programme commences. Students will also need to meet the specified entry requirements for pathways and courses on offer. These are outlined on the LaSWAP website.

We do not admit external students on to Level 3 programmes of study out of cohort, but we may look at requests in exceptional circumstances, which will be decided on a case by case basis.

Any student who has not achieved a grade 4 in Maths and/or English Language will be expected to retake the subjects until a grade 4 is achieved.

Students with EHCPs must consult through their local authority with all documentation being sent in the first instance to LaSWAP Director.
